Men Connecting

“Some men... are surprised to discover the paradox of strength - only the truly vulnerable possess the ability to love powerfully.”

Edmond Manning

Would the boy you once were be inspired by the man that you have become?

Are you wanting healthy connection with other men? Are you hungry to live more fully?

This 10-meeting study and process group for men will explore how we connect to other men - the opportunities and the challenges. In a world where competition and production are our primary ways of interacting and where vulnerability is seen as weakness and therefore dangerous, there are few models for authentic interaction between men. Yet many of us crave that contact. This group will explore how we connect with men experientially. That is, we will move toward that connection and notice the barriers. And we will look to climb those barriers and create the bonds we seek. This group will offer a pathway to discovering our masculine gifts. It will be a place of refuge, challenge and acceptance where members will engage with new ideas about relating to ourselves, our friends, families, partners, and our work in the world.

This group will be comprised of six to eight members and two leaders. All members will commit for the duration of the group. (It is understood that absences are unavoidable at times.) During the group, the leaders will offer experiential training on what is needed to develop and maintain an effective on-going, self-sustaining group. If after the completion of our work, there are enough interested members to do so, this group will be encouraged (with support and consultation from the group leaders as needed) to continue meeting on its own to maintain the connection created.

The group may do a small amount of reading each week to open up new areas for exploration of our full role in the world. We will explore mindfulness, and use this skill to explore barriers to true engagement with ourselves and our world.
